Carl Ray Utt

Mr. Carl Ray Utt, age 83, of Mt. Airy, passed away on August 10, 2019 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  He was born on July 11, 1936 to the late Claude and Emma Mathis Utt.  Mr. Utt was retired from Procter Silex and attended Grace Baptist Church.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will surely be missed by all who knew him.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 64 years Irene Utt, daughters and son-in-law, Kathie and Robert Fleenor, Penny Thomas, Brenda and Doug Vanhoy, Pamela and Stan Simmons; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sheila Utt; thirteen grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane Coake and Geraldine Towe; brothers, Roy, Mack and Phillip Utt.  In addition to his parents Mr. Utt was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Gwyn and Kathryn McCraw; a brother, Junior Utt; and a loving son-in-law, Randy Thomas.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Mac Cassell, Rev. Mark Utt and Rev. Jerry Pardue.  Burial will follow in the Peoples Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until time for the services at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in memory of Mr. Utt to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt.
