Carol Jean Payne Coalson

Mrs. Carol Jean Payne Coalson, 83, of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy.  She was born in Surry County on June 27, 1940, to the late Jack and Eveleyn Willard Payne.  Mrs. Coalson was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.  She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Tim East and Laura, Kevin East; grandchildren, Leslie Monte and Matt, Alex East and Brittany, Blake East and Lauren; great grandchildren, Logan Monte, Judd East, Orie East, Amelia East; a sister; Kay Montgomery; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coalson was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Coalson; her first husband, Ed East; sisters, Mary Cox, and Rita Collins; a brother, Billy Payne.  A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
