Carol Frances Scott Poindexter

Carol Frances Scott Poindexter, age 87, of Dobson, NC, passed away on March 3, 2024, at Chatham Nursing and Rehabilitation in Elkin, NC.   She was born March 19, 1936, in Surry County, NC, to the late Grover Johnson Scott and the late Mary Elizabeth Whitaker Scott.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Monroe Poindexter; sister, Evelyn Dinkins; brothers, Billy Scott and Johnny Scott.  Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was a prayer warrior for her family and all those around her.  She was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, led WMU devotions, and was instrumental in other committees she served.  Mrs. Poindexter was a teacher’s assistant at Dobson Elementary School for 28 years where she touched many children’s lives.  Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Larry Hill, Pam and Freddie Brown, Cheryl and Bobby Stanley; grandchildren, Josh and Donna Hill, Laura and Jesse Hudson, Brett and Hannah Stanley, Megan and Dillon Lewis, Caroline Brown; great-grandchildren, Boone Hudson, Bowen Hudson, Lilly Hudson, Jack Stanley, Jude Stanley, Wilson Stanley, Millie Lewis; sisters, Peggy Hardy and Charlie, Betty Patton and Bud; sisters-in-law, Joyce Scott, Audrey Scott; several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on March 10, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Fairview Baptist Church, with Dr. Billy Nale and Dr. Dan Merritt officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 2:00 pm.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, Children’s Ministry, 7659 NC Highway 268, Dobson, NC 27017.   Moody-Davis Funeral Service is serving the Poindexter family.
