Carol Jean Tilley

Ms. Carol Jean Lee Tilley, 79, of Pilot Mountain, passed away Wednesday morning, December 5, 2018, at Northern Hospital of Surry County.  Ms. Tilley was born October 5, 1939, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Albert and Pauline Vernon Lee.  Carol retired from Surry Industries after many years of service.  She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Camilla and Robert Joyce and Penny and Ricky Goins, all of Pilot Mountain; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Allan Tilley of Pilot Mountain and Todd and Christine Tilley of Mount Airy; six grandchildren, Heather Simmons, Beth Goins, Bucky Tilley, Shaylee Tilley, Candace Poole, and Ryan Poole; two great-grandchildren, Harrison Simmons and Colton Simmons; and her former husband and father to her children, Frank Tilley of Ararat.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Tilley was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kylie Simmons; and a sister, Geraldine Lee.  The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 12:00 PM at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ricky Hughes officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the church.  The family wishes to express their gratitude for the love and compassion shown by the staff at Northern Hospital of Surry County.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
