Mrs. Carolyn Nichols Hartgrove, 83, of King, passed away Sunday morning, March 3, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Hartgrove was born February 19, 1941, in Surry County, one of three children born to the late Thomas Allen and Georgia Elizabeth Rigney Nichols. Carolyn retired from Pike Electric after many years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church in King. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Albert and Diane Nichols; two nephews, Joel Nichols and Jeffrey Nichols and his wife, Misty; a great-niece, Meredith Nichols; a great-nephew, William Nichols; three stepchildren, Kim, Jeanine (Tom), and Melinda (Kyle); a stepgranddaughter, Ashley (David); two special friends, Debbie and Jane; and two beloved granddogs, Tripp and Piper. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hartgrove was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Gray Hartgrove; and an infant brother, A.G. Nichols. A private graveside service will be held at Skyline Memory Gardens. No formal visitation will be held. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Forrest Hills community for their love, support, kindness, and friendship. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any charity supporting the welfare of animals or a charity of the donor’s choice. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
