Carolyn Ann Hall Penley

Mrs. Carolyn Ann Hall Penley, 61, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010, at Lake Norman Medical Center in Mooresville. Mrs. Penley was born May 13, 1949, in Stokes County, to the late John Junior and Alene Sadie Jones Hall. She worked for Lowes Hardware and was a member of The Church of Corinth in Ararat. Mrs. Penley is survived by her husband of 46 years, James Franklin Penley of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna Alene and David Whitaker of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Tammy Penley of Mount Airy and David Carroll and Tammy Penley of Dobson; three grandchildren and a spouse, Tyler Whitaker, Josh Penley, and Kristi and Josh Ferguson; a brother and sister-in-law, Allec and Susan Hall of Myrtle Beach, SC; and a half-sister, Leigh Ann Wall of Ararat. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at 2:00 PM at The Church of Corinth, with the Rev. Billy Joe Jenkins and the Rev. Tony McCann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
