Carolyn Dorothy (Shaw) Sikes

Mrs. Carolyn Dorothy Shaw Sikes, age 92 of Mount Airy, passed away on Sunday evening, July 16, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Sikes was born November 27, 1930, in Lexington, Massachusetts to the late Frederick Shaw, Sr. and Dorothy Radcliff Shaw.  Carolyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She proudly served her county in the United States Air Force.  Carolyn was a faithful member at Grace Moravian Church as well as volunteering at Northern Regional Hospital; she will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Donna J. and R. Shawn Smith, Denise “Neise” and Charles Price; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott “Scotty” and Patsy Brown; grandchildren and spouses, Bryan and Katie Scott, Sayrd and Jillian Price, Kalib and Jade Price, Tanner and Meka Price, Bradley Brown, Hayden Brown; great-grandchild, Ellen Mae Scott; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sikes was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Sikes; infant sister, Elsie Shaw; sisters, Barbara Shaw Allen, Jeanne Shaw Lewin, one brother, Frederick Shaw, Jr.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
