Carolyn Ann Smith

Mrs. Carolyn Ann Sears Smith, age 73, of Ararat VA, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at her home.  She was born in Walhalla, SC to the late Claude Edward Sears and Irene Carolyn Sanders Sears on April 7, 1945. Carolyn grew up in Hickory, NC and graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University with a BA in Mathematics in 1967. Carolyn was a caring and compassionate wife, mother, and teacher. Her generous heart knew no bounds; she gave freely to anyone in need. She was survived by her husband, Ray Harden Smith; her son, Claude Edward Sears Smith and wife, Kelly McMillian Smith; her daughter, Natalie Paige Smith; grandchildren, Loren Rae Smith, Garret McRay Smith, and Carson Ray Stanford Smith; and sisters, Claudette Vantrice Tuttle and Mavis Ferrell Sears. In addition to parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Harden McRay Smith. Family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Services on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00PM.
