Carrie Lou Golding

Mrs. Carrie Lou Smith Golding, 87, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 19, 2018, at her home.  Mrs. Golding was born January 7, 1931, in Surry County, one of four children born to the late Granville H. and Blanche Mayes Smith.  Carrie retired as the snack shop manager at Northern Hospital of Surry County and was a member of Ladonia Baptist Church.  She was a member and past matron of Mount Airy Chapter #18 Order of the Eastern Star.  She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Brooke Golding of Mount Airy; a grandson, Smith Golding of Mount Airy; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Porter and Celatha Smith and Clyde and Norma Smith, all of Mount Airy, and Sam and Mildred Smith of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Golding was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Woltz Golding.  The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Ladonia Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brian Smith and the Rev. Tony Holder officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with graveside rites conducted by Mount Airy Chapter #18 Order of the Eastern Star.  The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
