Carrie H. McMillian

Mrs. Carrie Elizabeth Horton McMillian, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Golden Living Center. Mrs. McMillian was born May 25, 1931, in Carroll County, VA, to Tommy and Nellie Mae Norman Horton. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Treva and Andy Branch of Mount Airy and Donna and Rex Smith of Hillsville, VA; grandchildren, William Branch and his wife, Jessica, Hannah B. Hampton and her husband, Josh, Chase Smith, and Cory Smith; great-grandchildren, Kara May Hampton, Kennedy Branch, Luke Hampton, and Baby Branch on the way in August; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Mona Horton; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Horton and Faye Horton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. McMillian was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Monroe McMillian; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mahaley and Edsel Utt and Ruby and Rufus Parker; and two brothers, Richard Horton and Bill Horton. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Richard Loman and the Rev. Oscar Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
