Mrs. Carrie Edith McHone Puckett, 89, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Puckett was born November 20, 1920, in Surry County, to Samuel Franklin and Annie Hester Joyce McHone. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and retired from Spencer's Inc. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Tony Johnson of Ararat and Judy and Richard Glover of Lake Norman; three sons and daughters-in-law,Joe Bill Puckett of Mt. Airy, Jimmy and Patty Puckett of Lake Norman and Robert Puckett, Jr. and Yobeth of Troy, TX; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild; and a sister, Melba Boyd of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Puckett was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Puckett; two sons, John Wesley Puckett and Roger Lee Puckett; a sister, Cassie Smith; and five brothers, Foy McHone, Russell McHone, Howard McHone, Bobby McHone, and Sam McHone, Jr. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at White Plains Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Tucker and the Rev. Tom Delph officiating. Burial will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at White Plains Baptist Church.
