Mrs. Carrine Avis Secrest Dixon, 78, of 1132 Hillview Drive, King, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009, at Universal Health Care in King. Mrs. Dixon was born June 2, 1931, in Surry County, daughter of the late Charlie Matt and Sis Viney Mathis Secrest. She was retired from Fairchild Burns Industries. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Steve Hall and Diane and Joe Lashmit, all of King; three grandchildren, Anita Kiehl-Quarles and husband, Robert, of Houston, TX, Scott Lashmit and Kristin Lashmit, both of King; two great-grandchildren, Justin Kiehl and Amanda Quarles; two sisters, Thelma Kay of Mooresville and Dorothy Evelene Hudson of Mount Airy; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Secrest of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Eugene Dixon; five sisters, Sarah Lovill, Hattie Lovill, Linda Anderson, Bernice Secrest, and Gladys Secrest; and two brothers, Monroe Secrest and Harless Secrest. The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 7, 2009, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Junior Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinnacle Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:30 until the time for the funeral service.
