Mr. Carroll Gray Hawks, Jr., 55, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Hawks was born August 23, 1957, in Galax, VA, to Christine Walker Hawks and the late Carroll Gray Hawks, Sr. Mr. Hawks served as a combat medic in the United States Army. He worked as a critical care paramedic with Catawba County Emergency Medical Services. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Roger Lukas of Advance; a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew Grayson and Courtney Goins Hawks of Fairbanks, AK; three grandchildren, Caleb Gray Childress, Madelyn Danielle Lukas, and Hailey Michelle Lukas; his mother, Christine Walker Hawks of Mount Airy; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Clarence Hawks of Mount Airy and Ronald and Selena Hawks of Safety Harbor, FL. The funeral service will be held Monday, October 29, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Bill Spurlin, the Rev. Dud Spencer, and the Rev. Israel Easter officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Moody Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030, to assist with the funeral expenses.
