Catherine Ann Newman

Mrs. Catherine Ann Travis Newman, age 75, of Galax, passed away Friday, July 12, 2019.  Mrs. Newman was born in Grand Rapids, MI, on September 15, 1943, to John William and Gertrude Selma Spicer Travis.  Surviving are a son, John Newman, grandchildren, Peyton Newman, Michael Newman, and Preston Newman; sisters, Judy House, Shirley Travis; a special niece, Melanie Tate and husband Vance; great nephews, Cody Tate and fiancée, Portia Childress, Tyler Tate and girlfriend, Makenzi James; Dylan Tate; and great nephews, Kayden and Kamden Tate.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newman was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Boyce Newman, Sr.; a son, Frank Newman, Jr.; sisters, Joyce Archer, Lorraine Travis, Alice Travis and Lucille Travis; and a brother, John Travis.  There will not be any formal services.
