Mr. Cecil W. Worrell, Sr., age 69 of Mt. Airy, passed away on September 27, 2007. He was born April 18, 1938 in Mt. Airy to the late Woodrow and Phoebe Goings Worrell and was of the Baptist faith. He was retried from Pine State Knitwear and a veteran of the US Army having served in Korea. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Penny and Robert Bondurant of Haw River; Leigh and Donald Quesinberry of Mt. Airy; one son and daughter-in-law, Cecil, Jr. and Kay Worrell of Mt. Airy; three grandchildren, Chad and Kristen Jones, Bryan and Chasity Jones, and Jessica Evans; one great granddaughter, Natalie Jones; a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Tom King; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Vernon and Clara Worrell; Clinton and Polly Worrell; along with a host of other relatives, two special neighbors, Jack H. Moore and Harriet Holmes; his best friend Byrun "Slicks" Spence; two special friends Faye Curtis and Duane Branscome; five special friends he looked out for like his own children; Dwayne Hamm, Michael Moles, Missy Moles, Marion Joe Goad and Mike Bunn. In addition to his parents, Mr. Worrell was preceded in death by a sister, Shelby Hiner and a very special friend, Maydee Slate. As per Mr. Worrell's request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at the Spence Cemetery in Dugspur, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Ln., Mt. Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice for all the care they bestowed during dads illness.
