Mrs. Charity Loretta Goins Floyd, 77, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday morning, December 17, 2018, at her home.  Mrs. Floyd was born March 9, 1941, in Henry County, VA, one of seven children born to the late Emmett Elmer and Bettie Rosetta Amburn Goins.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Kenneth Floyd; and two sisters, Louise Goings and Ida Mae Bryant.  Loretta was among the first graduating class from North Surry High School, and she attended Holmes Bible College.  She retired from Kentucky Derby Hosiery after many years of service.  Mrs. Floyd was a dedicated Christian, with a strong belief in her heavenly father, and was a faithful member of Mount Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church until her health declined.  Throughout the years, Loretta served as a Missionettes leader, participated in the church’s women’s ministries, was an advocate for youth and youth camp, and led a Christian, singles’ group.  She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Tim McGown of Mocksville and Kim and Justin Dobesh of Winston-Salem; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Tammy Floyd of Mocksville; ten grandchildren, Jessica (Rev. Chris) Holbrook, Ashleigh Floyd, Jennifer (Joey) Asbury, T.J. McGown, Brianna (Jason) McIntyre, Shane Floyd, Will Dake, Sharon Floyd, Noah Dobesh, and Rachel Powell; ten great-grandchildren, Charity, Mary Ann, Joseph, Jonah, Judah, Luke, Abigail, Alyssa, Chloe, and Jayden; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma Goings and Frances and Wayne Worth, all of Mount Airy, and Ike Bryant of High Point; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clayton and Paula Goings and Bill and Faye Goings, all of Mount Airy; and a special nephew, Jeffrey (Lisa) Goins of Yadkinville.  The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Mount Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Brian Frazier, the Rev. Tommy Vass, the Rev. Tony Goins, the Rev. Albert Everidge, and the Rev. Chris Holbrook officiating.  Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the commUNITY CHRISTmas Fund at Mount Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church, c/o Andy Vernon, 132 Chadwick Lane, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
