Mr. Charles Edward Beck, 62, of Ararat, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Beck was born April 14, 1948, in Surry County, to Mozelle Gillispie Beck Harrell and the late Elmer Lee Beck. He was the owner and operator of Charles Beck Septic Service and a member of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his fiancé, Cindy Reid of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rhonda and Joel Atkins of Ararat and Angie Barker of Dobson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gray and Gail Beck and Donald and Angie Beck, all of Ararat; six grandchildren, Brandi Beck, Laken Beck, Trenika Beck, Amber Hayden, Donald "D.J." Beck, Jr., and Alison Beck; seven great-grandchildren; his mother, Mozelle Gillispie Beck Harrell of Ararat; a sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Tommy Horton of Ararat; and special friends, Danny Holyfield, James Callahan, Juan Perez, and Nelson Thomas. In addition to his father, Mr. Beck was preceded in death by a great-great-grandson, Joshua Hayden; and his first wife, Barbara Meredith Beck. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 4, 2010, at 3:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Robbie Sizemore and the Rev. Gary Sawyers officiating. Burial will follow in the Beck Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
