Mr. Charles Wiley Cruise age 69 of Conover, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Mr. Cruise was born in Surry County on November 28, 1941 to the late James Lloyd Cruise and Clara Elizabeth Gates Cruise Younger. He was retired from Duke Power and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Conover. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Stevens Cruise of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan Elizabeth and Mark Nelson of Stony Point; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Hampton and Karen Cruise of Winston-Salem; a step-son and wife, Richard Gray and Jennifer Harrison of Concord; grandchildren, Jordan Elizabeth Nelson, Christopher Tyler Harrison, Paul Hampton Cruise, and Chase Chadley Nelson; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Tom Cline of Walnut Cove; a brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Ann Cruise of Ararat, NC; step-father, Kermit Younger of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cruise was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Dale Cruise. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Jessup and Dr. Ed Yount officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church Building Fund 440 7th Street PL., SW Conover, NC 28613.
