Mr. Charles Ray Humphries, 57, of 1012 Marshall Heights, Mount Airy, passed away Sunday morning, September 23, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Humphries was born April 8, 1955, in Forsyth County, to Charles Luther Humphries and Rhumell Hiatt Humphries. Charles worked as a knitter at Kentucky Derby Hosiery for many years. He is survived by his mother, Rhumell Hiatt Humphries of the home; his father, Charles Luther Humphries of Pilot Mountain; a sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Jimmy Reynolds, Sr. of Mount Airy; a half-brother, Charles Luther Humphries, Jr. of Pilot Mountain; a niece, Sonya Torres of Mount Airy; a nephew, Jimmy Reynolds, Jr. of Mount Airy; three great nieces, Leticia Torres Thomas, Chelsea Torres Thomas, and Serenity Reynolds, all of Mount Airy; and a great nephew, Mario Torres Thomas of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Elder David Culler and Elder James Hiatt officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
