Mr. Charles Columbus Isom, Jr., 81, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, April 7, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in McDowell County, WV on April 7, 1940 to the late Charles Columbus Isom, Sr. and Lillie Mae Bunks Isom. He proudly served our country in the US Army was retired from Friendly Heating and Air. Left to cherish his memory are his stepchildren, Diana Felts and husband Lee, Blenda Arbuthnot and husband Bart, and Wayne Marion and wife Betty; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Juanita Blankenship, and Rita Pence; brothers, Rev. Jimmy and Jean Isom, and Allen and Patsy Isom; half-brothers, Danny Ray Isom, and Larry Ray Isom; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Isom was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Rebecca D. Isom; stepsons, Kenneth “Ken” Marion, and Anthony “Tony” Davis; sisters, Edna I. Smith, and Linda Isom; and a brother, George W. Isom. A celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy at 2:00 PM with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mountain Post 9436 and the Mount Airy Post 2019. The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Isom family.
