Charles Thomas Jarrell

Mr. Charles Thomas Jarrell, 68, of 330 Tom Jones Road, Ararat, passed away Sunday afternoon, September 11, 2016, at his home. Mr. Jarrell was born October 23, 1947, in Surry County, one of three children born to the late Ellard Vernon “Tom” and Imogene Dezern Jarrell. Charles served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a tobacco buyer for many years, retiring from Reynolds American, Inc. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Malcome and Susan Jarrell of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jarrell was preceded in death by his wife, Penny Lynn Hall Jarrell; and a sister, Brenda Jarrell White. No formal visitation or memorial service will be held, per Mr. Jarrell’s wishes. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is in charge of the cremation and serving the family.
