Charles Ray Payne, Sr

Mr. Charles Ray Payne, Sr., 68, of Cana, VA husband of Mrs. Gloria Hiatt Payne passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born May 2, 1945 in Carroll County, VA to the late Columbus H. "Lum" and Annetta Westmoreland Payne. Mr. Payne was owner and operator of Fashion Floors. He was a member and Past Master of Granite Lodge #322 AF & AM and attended Epworth United Methodist Church. Surviving are his loving wife of 49 years, Gloria H. Payne of the home; two sons, Charles R. Payne, Jr. of Germanton and Sean Payne of Cana, VA; two grandchildren, Nicholas Payne and Bryson Payne both of Cana, VA; a great grandson, Kohen Ray; sisters and brothers-in-law; Linda Payne and friend David Shelton, Runelle Evans-Cagle and Bobby, all of Mt. Airy; brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Donna Payne, of Cana, VA, Raymond and Kathy Payne of Mt. Airy, Olga Payne of Colorado Springs. In addition to his parents, Mr. Payne was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Semones and Annie Ruth Payne; three brothers, Columbus H. Payne, Bernie Payne and Ralph Payne. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Epworth United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis "Bud" Cameron and Rev. Dennis Bledsoe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Masonic rites conducted by Granite Lodge #322 AF & AM.
