Charles Duncan Perkins

Mr. Charles Duncan Perkins, age 92, of Dobson, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the Woltz Hospice Home.  Mr. Perkins was born in Surry County on February 18, 1926, to Charlie Turner and Lillie Hemmings Perkins.  He proudly served our country in the United States Army, during WWII in the Philippines and was a well-known farmer.  Mr. Perkins was a member of Copeland Baptist Church where he faithfully served as Deacon for 62 years.  Among the many who will always cherish his memory is his wife, Dot Adams Perkins; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Rev. Alan Branch; sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Pam Perkins, John Travis and Jeanne Perkins, and Jeff and Becky Perkins; grandchildren, Leslie P. Suchar and husband, Adam, David Perkins, Danny Perkins, Richard Poplin and wife Brandi, Ashley Cox and husband Adam, and Sarah Ramsey and husband Ethan; great grandchildren, Elise Suchar, Madelyn Suchar, and Ava Poplin; and many nieces, nephews and friends.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Collins Perkins; and all his siblings, Marie Hicks, June Moore, Lois Howerton, Mamie Hill, Frances Ward, John Perkins, and Cecil Perkins.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Copeland Baptist Church by Rev. Alan Branch, Rev. Austin Caviness, and Rev. Tom Parker.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy.  Mr. Perkins will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.  Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Copeland Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Jackie Holyfield, 169 Stony Knoll Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
