Charles Leon Puckett

Mr. Charles Leon Puckett, 81, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Puckett was born June 7, 1943, in Carroll County, VA, one of eight children born to the late Robert Serle and Glenice Marshall Puckett. Charles spent many years of his life serving as a prison guard, where he demonstrated strength, discipline, and a strong sense of justice. His role was not just a job but a commitment to maintaining order, safety, and security in a challenging environment. Later in life, Charles transitioned into the construction industry, where his hands-on approach and solid work ethic continued to shine. He is survived by his wife, Esther Rachel Collins McBride Puckett; a daughter, Rebecca McBride Hull (Donnie); three sons, Rawley Ramey McBride, Jr. (Cynthia), Charles Edward McBride, and David Lee McBride, Sr. (Jackie); six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Peggy Kimble, Ala Deane Bowman, and Mildred Marshall; a brother, Elmore Puckett; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Diane Coleson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Puckett was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Hull Clark; and three sisters, Gray Montgomery, Lola Mae Coleson, and Wanda Puckett (infant). No formal visitation or memorial service will be held. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
