Charles Woodrow Rakes

Mr. Charles Woodrow Rakes, age 75, of Stuart, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on October 2, 1948, to the late Roby Woodrow Rakes and Ola Handy Rakes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one niece, Carolyn Holt; and one nephew, Ronnie Holt. Mr. Rakes was a faithful member of Wayside Community Church. Charles was a good man who loved his family tremendously and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed playing his guitar and going camping. Above all, he loved his Lord and is now home with Him for all eternity. Charles will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Left to cherish the fond memories of Mr. Charles Rakes are his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy Greenwood Rakes of the home; one sister, Dixie Lee Joyce of Stuart, Virginia; one niece, Kathy Kisamore (Roy) of Critz, Virginia; and many special friends. 

A funeral service for Mr. Charles Rakes will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Teddy Hiatt officiating. The burial will immediately follow the funeral service in the Wayside Community Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon.
