Charles Larry White

Mr. Charles Larry (C. L.) White, age 81, of Elkin, entered the Portals of Heaven on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home.  He was born in Surry County on September 18, 1937, to the late Paul F. White and Grace Frances Callahan.  After serving in the US Navy for a short time, Mr. White was a devoted farmer for 60 plus years in the Salem Fork Community where he resided.  He was a faithful member of Salem Fork Baptist Church where he served as a deacon as his health permitted.  He loved God and his Family, and community.  Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life Helen Hall of 62 years, four devoted sons, Joey (Pam) White, Terry (Jan) White, Brent White (Melissa Hutchens special friend), Clent (Emily) White of Elkin;  grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Gonzalez, Amanda White, Kaley White, Brandon White, and Lukas White;  great-grandchildren, Isaac and Eric Gonzalez all of Elkin; three sisters, Carolyn (Linville) Money of Ronda, Josephine (Terry) Hardy, Rebecca Carter;  one brother, Arnold White all of Dobson.  A sister-in-law Marie White of Clio,Michigan, and a special sister-in-law, Carolyn Williams of Elkin and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Sue White, two brothers, Herchel White and Benton White, a brother-in-law, Ronald Carter and a special pet, Izzy.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Salem Fork Baptist Church by the Rev. Sean Joplin, Rev. Tim Burton, and Rev. Joe Atkins with burial to follow in the church cemetery, with full Military Honors by Veterans of  Foreign Wars, Mount Airy Post 2019, and Pilot Mountain Post 9436.  The family will receive friends at the church in the Family Life Center from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the N. C. Baptist Children’s Home or Joy Ranch – A Christian Home for Children. You may send donations made payable to Salem Fork Baptist Church 419 White Road, Elkin, NC 28621.  The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to his caregivers at Forsyth Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and the caregivers at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home.
