Mr. Charlie Leo Jenkins, 76, husband of Mrs. Betty Joe Collins Jenkins, of Dobson passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday January 5, 2008. He was born in Surry County on June 10, 1931 to the late James Solomon and Lillie Mae Stanley Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was a retired farmer and logger and was formerly employed by Fence Builders, Inc. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Joe Collins Jenkins of the home; four sons and four daughters-in-law Steve and Tonya Jenkins of Jonesville, Buddy and Diane Jenkins, Dwight and Twana Jenkins, Roger Jenkins and fiance Stacy Hodge and Nancy Jenkins all of Dobson; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law Lessie and Gurney Coe and Bessie Bledsoe all of Dobson; a brother and sister-in-law Connie and Lola Jenkins of Dobson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by two sons Chester Lee and Sammy Leo Jenkins and nine sisters and brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Second Chance Church by Bro. Billy Joe Jenkins, Rev. Terry Coe, Rev. Allen Jenkins and Rev. Timothy Jenkins. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. His body will be placed in the church on Monday where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care 401 Technology Lane Suite 200 Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or to Second Chance Church Bear Creek Church Road Dobson, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Jenkins family.
