Charliene A. Belcher

Charliene Alice Belcher, having lived most of her beautiful life in Meadows of Dan, VA, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Thursday, April 4th, 2019, around 12:15 in the afternoon.  She was born Charliene Alice Hatcher in Willis, VA on March 7th, 1942 and met her husband Lindel during a high school basketball game that she was playing in. They dated for several years and were wed on December 22nd, 1961. In late August of the following year, they had their only child, Phillip Edgar.  She worked for many years and retired from the United Elastic Corporation in Stuart, VA but it was clear to those close to her that her life was lived primarily in service to her family. She never failed to be a strong, loving mother and was, in the eyes of her grandchildren, the funniest, most generous grandmother anyone could ask for. One was never allowed to visit Grannies house without partaking in at least a grilled cheese sandwich or a pork chop biscuit and a lot of laughter.  She loved to fish and she loved riding their four wheeler but her passion and primary love was her family and that fact remained true until the very moment of her death. She cared little about her own needs and was ever eager to sacrifice of herself and her time to make everyone around her happy.  Her life was the embodiment of selflessness. For this reason, along with many others, she will forever be loved and never forgotten.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Phillip Lindel Belcher; her son, Phillip Edgar Belcher and fiance, Shannon Leath; two grandchildren, Robin Lee Belcher Hancock and husband, Justin, John Lucian Belcher; two great-grandchildren, Avery Lee Hancock, Mason William Hancock; and a brother, Donnie Hatcher.

She is predeceased by her mother Faye Burgess.
