Charlotte Booker Collins

Mrs. Charlotte Booker Collins, age 91, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy. She was born in Surry County on April 29, 1930, to the late Lewis and Mae Elizabeth Wagoner Booker. Mrs. Collins was a long-time member of Highland Park Baptist Church, the first female deputy of Surry County, where she retired after 12 years of service. Mrs. Collins also retired as an accountant from Johnson’s Accounting Service. She was a member of the board for the Mt. Airy Housing Authority for 15 years and was also a consulting member of the North Carolina Housing Authority serving for 5 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memories are her children, David Franklin Collins, and Scott Booker Collins; grandson, Johnathan David Collins, and wife Abby; great-granddaughter, Reese Collins; special niece, Annette Booker Wright; as well as several other nieces and nephews; a very special friend, Peggy Inman, and all her friends at Highland Park Baptist Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in her honor to Highland Park Baptist Church, 1247 Park Dr, Mt Airy, NC 27030. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
