Cheryl Ann McKnight Ayers

Mrs. Cheryl Ann McKnight Ayers, 55, of Hickory, passed away Saturday night, September 29, 2012, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Mrs. Ayers was born May 25, 1957, in Genesee County, MI, one of three children born to William Lehman and Maurene Ouita Grimes McKnight. Cheryl was a licensed practical nurse and a member of the Christian faith. She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Edward "Eddie" Ayers, Jr. of Hickory; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lonnie Edward "Trey" Ayers, III of Hickory and Scott William and Chelsea Ayers of Mesa, AZ; three grandchildren, Andrew Kaden McCall, Mikaela Rose Ayers, and Grace Raelynn Armida Ayers, all of Mesa, AZ; her parents, William Lehman and Maurene Ouita Grimes McKnight of Sun Lakes, AZ; a sister and brother-in-law, Tonya and Doug Maguffee of Fenton, MI; a brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Rosemary McKnight of Henderson, TN; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lonnie Edward Ayers, Sr. and Jean Davis Ayers of Kernersville. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Martel Pace officiating. Entombment will follow in the Skyline Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home, and other times at The Ayers Farm, 790 Copeland School Road, Dobson.
