Cheryl Ann Ward

Cheryl Ann Ward, of Mount Airy, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family and friends on January 17, 2025. Cheryl was born on February 16, 1951, in Lynwood, California. Cheryl is survived by her 4 siblings, Michael Ward, (MaryEllen), Bryan Ward (Deb), Marie Ward, and John Ward (Stephanie), as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews. Cheryl is pre-deceased by her parents, Marvin and Rita Ward, who lived in Mount Airy, NC. Cheryl spent her childhood years in Ringwood, NJ. She graduated from DePaul High School in 1969 and attained her master’s degree in biology from Paterson State University. Her successful career spanned decades and began at Sloan Kettering while she resided in the Bronx, NY. She then worked for Hoffman LaRoche, while living in Belleville and then Wayne, NJ. During these years she worked as a research biologist. She retired as a lead Medical Writer working for the Johnson & Johnson Companies, living in Flemington, NJ. When Cheryl retired, she moved to Mount Airy, NC. She enjoyed gardening and became a Master Gardener and educator in the practice of native plant gardening. She was an athlete who enjoyed softball and golf. Cheryl adopted rescue dogs, was an avid nature photographer, belonged to local gardening groups and loved all of nature’s gifts.
