Mr. Chester "Jake" Puckett, 59, of 118 Dunaway Lane, Pilot Mountain, formerly of Rhodell, WV, passed away Monday, December 7, 2009, at his home. Mr. Puckett was born January 7, 1950, in Stotesbury, WV, son of the late Thomas and Betty Puckett. He was the manager of Bailey's Mobile Home Park and a member of True Word Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Puckett of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Christy Puckett and Johnny and Misty Puckett, all of Pilot Mountain; three grandchildren, Ranee Ayers, Ryan Puckett, and Destiny Puckett; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Sheila Puckett and Robert and Mary Puckett, all of Coal City, WV, Gary "John" Puckett and Sandy Puckett of Beckley, WV, and Fred "Boosie" Puckett of Coal City, WV; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Stanley Chafin of Coal City, WV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Puckett was preceded in death by three nephews, Jody Puckett, Ethan Diehl, and Noah Diehl. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at 2:00 PM at True Word Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain, with the Rev. David Joyce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at True Word Baptist Church. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Pastor David Joyce, the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, and also to all the family and friends that visited, brought food, or said a prayer as it was all greatly appreciated.
