Mrs. Chime Alecia Johnson Dean, 65, of King, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Dean born December 31, 1955, in Grayson County, VA, to Roy Lewis and Jerilene Webb Johnson. Chime was a loving wife, daughter, stepmother, stepgrandmother, great-stepgrandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all that knew here. Mrs. Dean retired after 30 years of teaching in the Surry County School System. She had a passion for children and volunteered her time to read for the children at Brenner’s Children Hospital. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Ronald George Dean; her mother, Jerilene Webb Johnson; her stepdaughter, Tammy Poole; her stepson and his wife, Ricky and Donna Dean; six stepgrandchildren; four great-stepgrandchildren; her sister, Carol Ann Ford; three nieces; three great-nieces; two great-nephews; along with her two beloved dogs. Mrs. Dean was preceded in death by her father, Roy Lewis Johnson; and her sister, Brenda Sue Johnson Holder. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Roaring Gap Baptist Church in Lowgap, with the Rev. Joe Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
