Christine (Sleight) Ayers

Mrs. Christine Sleight Ayers, age 85 of Mount Airy, passed away on Friday evening, April 28, 2023, in Mount Airy.  Mrs. Ayers was born in Surry County to the late George Franklin Sleight and Minnie Pearl Payne Sleight Shelton.  Christine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  She is survived by her two daughters and son-in-law, Sandra “Sandy” Ayers Cox and Jerry, Linda Ayers Hiatt; three sons and daughter-in-law, Wesley Ayers and Marilyn, Tony Ayers, Roger Ayers; six grandchildren, Adam, Matthew, Brittney, Hayden, Jordan, Danielle; two great-grandchildren, Tyson, Kyla McCulloch and husband Matthrew; along with several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Roger Lewis Ayers; a son-in-law, Jimmy Franklin Hiatt; three sisters, Margaret Sleight Smith, Nancy Sleight Stanley, Jackie Sleight Nunn; and a brother, Richard Sleight.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Oakdale Cemetery in Mount Airy with Rev. Richard Loman officiating.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
