Clara Mae Edwards

Clara Mae McDowell Goins Edwards, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Friday January 31st. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Maude McDowell, sister Eula “Sister” Brown, two brothers Gene and Leon McDowell, husbands Charles Goins and Clarence Edwards, and her beloved dog Misty. Clara Mae was a faithful member of the Salvation Army for over 60 years where she played the organ and piano. Clara Mae was a retiree from Renfro Sock Company. She was loved by many and also known as Mae Mae to her beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at the Salvation Army Church with Major Jeff Brooks officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  The family would like to say a special thank you to Mount Airy Dialysis Center for years of great care and support as well as Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation Center and Mountain Valley Hospice for their care, love, and compassion.Online condolences may be made at
