Clara Jean Harrell

Ms. Clara Jean Harrell, 79, of Ararat, VA, passed away at her home on Wednesday afternoon December 28, 2022, with her children at her bedside.  She was born March 10, 1943, to the late Earnest Porter Harrell, Sr. and Bertha Virginia Stroupe Harrell.  Clara retired as a licensed practical nurse and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Anna Burford and Jeff McGee; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Randall McMillian, Barry and Cheryl McMillian, and Jeffery and Vicky McMillian; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Louise and Randy Marsh, Brenda Rachels, and Lena Dixon; a brother, the Rev. Earnest Porter Harrell, Jr.; and other family members.  In addition to her parents, Ms. Harrell was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katrina Noel Burford; and a brother, Ronald Harrell.  The funeral service will be held Monday, January 2, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Ararat Church of the Living God, with the Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow in the Harrell Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM at the church.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
