Clara Elizabeth Hiatt Meredith

Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Hiatt Meredith, 94, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at Twelve Oaks Retirement. Mrs. Meredith was born September 7, 1916, in Patrick County, VA, to William Marion "Dink" and Mimie Evelyn Guynn Hiatt. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Grace Moravian Church. Mrs. Meredith will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and George Weddle of Fancy Gap, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Shirley Meredith of Fancy Gap, VA; grandchildren, Greg Meredith and his wife, April, of Fancy Gap, VA, Tracy Bryant and her husband, Rod, of Fancy Gap, VA, John Weddle and his wife, Kim, of Woodlawn, VA, and Paul Weddle of Winston-Salem; great-grandchildren, Dillon Bryant, Maggie Bryant, Cora Meredith, Colton Meredith, Cody Boyd, Jordan Weddle, and Logan Weddle; and three sisters, Evelyn Coulson and Esther Dawson, both of Cana, VA, and Ruth Bowman of Elkin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Meredith was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Meredith; and two sisters, Margaret Leonard and Virginia Hiatt. The funeral service will be held Friday, October 8, 2010, at 4:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Tony Hayworth officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
