Clarence Wade Belton

Mr. Clarence Wade Belton, 83, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Belton was born July 10, 1927, in Surry County, to Hurley and Bertha McKinney Belton. He served our country for 22 years, during World War II in the United States Navy and later in the Air Force. Mr. Belton was retired from Piedmont Airlines. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lori Belton of Lambsburg, VA; two grandsons and their wives, David Lee and Rebecca Belton and Christopher Andrew and Kathleen Belton; four great-grandchildren, Thristan Belton, Dawson Belton, Mason Belton, and Chaylyn McGowan; a sister, Sue McCreary of Mount Airy; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Mary Belton of Winston-Salem and Ray and Dot Belton of Galax, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Belton was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Belle Snow Belton; a sister, Doris Belton; and two brothers, James Belton and Junior Childress. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 1, 2010, at Skyline Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Donald Bryant officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. There will not be a formal visitation.
