Clarence Ray McMillon

Mr. Clarence Ray McMillon, 71, of Dobson, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Golden Living Nursing Center. He was born October 27, 1938, in Guilford County, to the late John Thomas and Dorothy Elizabeth Bullington McMillon. Mr. McMillon was a retired crane operator from Thackery Crane Rental and a lifetime member of Operating Engineers. Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rita Bowman of Claudville, VA, and Frances and S.C. Hamlin of Dobson; a sister-in-law, JoAnn McMillian of Mount Airy; two nieces; five nephews; special friends, Tommy and Sue Draughn, Gale and Vickie Garris, and Linda Matthews; and his devoted caregiver, JoAnn McMillian of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, the Rev. John Wayne McMillian and Lawrence and Bordie McMillon; an infant sister, Annie Mae McMillon; and a brother-in-law, Buddy Bowman. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Liberty Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Tucker and Brother Fred Bullington. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
