Clarsie Mae Dawson Combs

Mrs. Clarsie Mae Dawson Combs age 78, wife of Marvin Combs of Cana, VA was born in Carroll County, VA August 8, 1929 to the late George Lester and Sarah Elizabeth Edwards Dawson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, a homemaker and wonderful cook. She always welcomed the opportunity to help family, friends and neighbors while her health permitted. Mrs. Combs was a devoted member to Paul's Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Combs departed this world Monday, February 11, 2008. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, Marvin Combs of the home, three daughters and sons-in-law, Gladys and Larry Berrier, Janice and Dennie Hawks all of Cana, VA, Jean and Ivan Vass of Jonesville, NC; two sons, Eddie (Wormie) Combs and Teddy Combs both of Cana, VA; seven grandchildren; Eric Hawks, Dwayne Berrier, Travis Combs, Steven Berrier, Misty Combs, Matt Vass and Deanna Vass; seven great-grandchildren, Haley, Abby, Madison, Riley, Lucas, Kori and Toby; five sisters, Ruby Sykes, Bertha Brannock and Myrtle Taylor all of Mt Airy, Irene Thompson and Inez Dawson both of Cana, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Virginia Dawson of Lowgap, NC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Combs was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth McCraw and four brothers, Otto, Will, Alph and Ed Dawson. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Paul's Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Tim Hawks, Rev. Verlon Combs and Rev. Larry Jones. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening, February 12, 2008 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy where her body will remain until the time to leave for the church for her body to lie in state 30 minutes before the service.
