Claten Howard McCrary

Mr. Claten Howard McCrary, 70, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. McCrary was born June 26, 1938, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Alanzo Ralph and Dorothy Gray McCrary. He served our country in the United States Navy and retired from Pine State Knitwear. Surviving are his loving wife, June Martin McCrary of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cathy M. and Juron Ayers of Cartersville, GA, and Cheryl D. McCrary of Washington, DC; two grandchildren, Heather Ayers and Brandon Ayers; two sisters, Loraine M. Jones and Shirley M. King, both of Cana, VA; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Parlie and Virginia McCrary of Newport News, VA, Glen and Laura McCrary of Mount Airy, and Clinton and Betty McCrary of Browns Valley, CA. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Chuck Harmon, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
