Mrs. Clatis Rogers Hunsucker, 99, of King, passed away Monday, October 10, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Hunsucker was born in Stokes County, NC on May 3, 1912 to the late David Sanders Rogers and Emily Rozilla Lawson Rogers. She was retired from Hanes Hosiery and was the oldest member of American Legion King Unit 290 Auxiliary for 54 continuous years. Surviving are one son; and two daughters-in-law, Colonel (Ret.) Coley A. Hunsucker, and wife, Barbara, King and Sylvia Speight Hunsucker, Rural Hall; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Hunsucker was preceded in death by her husband, Coley Ulysses Hunsucker, a son, Wesley LaRonald Hunsucker, two sisters and two brothers. She was a member of Asbury Presbyterian Church where a Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011 with Rev. Ralph Sproles officiating. There will be no visitation period. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Village Care of King Activity Fund, 440 Ingram Road, King, NC 27021 or to the Asbury Presbyterian Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 105 Westfield, NC 27053. The family wishes to express special thanks to Sue and Roy Slater and the entire staff at Village Care of King for their loving care of Clatis during her years of declining Health. Also many thanks, to her roommate, Virginia Foster and Becky and Fred Stevens who for over five years have been so good to Clatis. Moody Funeral Service of Mt. Airy is assisting the family.
