Mr. Claucy William Hawks, 69, of 58 Family Drive, Cana, VA, passed away Thursday March 5, 2009, at his home. Mr. Hawks was born May 29, 1939, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Eugene and Annie Akers Hawks. He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Ella Easter Hawks of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Wayne Butcher and Teresa and Terry Tate, all of Cana, VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Tena Hawks of Cana, VA; seven grandchildren, Stacey Butcher and fiancee, Jeffery Shelton, Melissa Tate, Melinda Tate, Anna Hawks, Jeffery Tate, Tony Butcher, and Cody Hawks all of Cana, VA; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Elza and J.D. Bowman of Cana, VA, Gracie and Hermit Sechrist of Biscoe, and Bonnie and Claude Gwynn of Mount Airy; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marlie and Bertie Hawks of Winston-Salem and Arthur and Launia Hawks of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by two brothers, Edgar Hawks and Arles Hawks; and a sister, Edith Hawks Combs. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, March 8, 2009, at 2:00 PM at the home of Mr. Hawks, by the Rev. Marlie Hawks, the Rev. Sherman Hawks, and the Rev. Gene Easter. Burial will follow in the Hawks Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at the home. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Cana Rescue Squad and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for all they did.
