Mr. Claude Robert "C.R." Golding, of 245 Glen Echo Trail, Mount Airy, widower of Ona G. Golding, died at his home on Friday, April 23, 2010. Mr. Golding was born July 15, 1914, in Surry County, to the late Parley and Lula Dawson Golding. Mr. Golding was the owner of C.R. Golding, Inc. He was a charter member of Franklin Heights United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee, member of the Methodist Men, and in many other leadership roles for the church. Mr. Golding was a member of Franklin Ruritan Club for over 35 years, was a member of Renfro Masonic Lodge for 54 years, and served on the school board for Franklin School. His hobbies included farming, gardening, and sharing fruits and vegetables with friends.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and Arthur Bjontegard, Jr. of Columbia, SC; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Mark Golding of Mount Airy and Donald C. and Julia Golding of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Donna Nelson of Winston Salem, David N. Golding of Gastonia, Suellen Hosino of Los Angeles, CA, Arthur Martin Bjontegard III of Houston, TX, and Karla B. Johns of Columbia, SC; nine great-grandchildren, Matthew Hosino, Alexander Hosino, Wesley Golding, Garret Golding, David Johns, Kirby Johns, Arthur Bjontegard IV, Nikko Joy Bjontegard, and Zake Bjontegard; and a brother, Ed Golding of Mount Airy. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Golding was preceded in death by his sisters, Maude Smith, Hattie Hale, and Rachel Hemmings; and brothers, William "Bill" Golding, Garnett Golding, Tobe Golding, and Tom Golding.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 26, 2010, at 1:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Chapel in Mount Airy, with interment in Oakdale Cemetery. The service will be officiated by the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron and the Rev. Richard Buffkin. The Golding family will visit with friends from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Franklin Heights United Methodist Church, 614 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
