Claude Woltz Leftwich

Mr. Claude Woltz Leftwich, 91, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, February 4, 2011, at his home. Mr. Leftwich was born November 6, 1919, in Carroll County, VA, to the late William McKinley and Princie Anner Heath Leftwich. He retired from Mount Airy Tractor and Pine Ridge Lumber Company. Mr. Leftwich is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ellen Peeples of King, Claudine and Sherman Jones of Mount Airy, and Donna and Tony Lineback of Raleigh; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Judy Leftwich and Tommy and Phyllis Leftwich, all of Mount Airy; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Orena Lane of King and Stacy and Jack Mosley of Mount Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Rita Leftwich of Cana, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Leftwich was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gean Gordon Leftwich; a daughter, Mae Frances "Tink" Poole; a son, Howard Leftwich; and two brothers, Price Leftwich and Leroy Leftwich. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 7, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jerry Keegan. Burial will follow in the Saint Paul Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
