Mr. Claude Washington Manring, Jr., 59, of 3625 Highway 66 South, King, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born March 11, 1951, in Stokes County, to the late Claude Washington Manring, Sr. and Mollie Rominger Manring. He was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a friend of 18 years, Judy Boyd of King; a daughter and her husband, Angela Hawks and Donnie of Mount Airy; two sons, Scotty Manring and Robert Maurer, both of King; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Carolyn Kay Lawson and Betty Jo Hunt and Conrad, all of Pinnacle. In addition to his parents, Mr. Manring was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Lois Shore; and two brothers, Curtis J. Manring and Tony Dale Manring. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at 4:00 PM at Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church, with Rev. Brad Sawyers and Brother Don Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church, where his body will remain until the hour of the service.
