Claude O'Dell McCormick

Mr. Claude O'Dell McCormick, Jr., 34, of Lowgap, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010, at his home. Mr. McCormick was born June 11, 1975, in Surry County, son of the Rev. George Junior Jones and the late Debbie Edwards and Betty Jones. He was a dear father, son, and loved one to all his family and friends. Surviving are his father, the Rev. George Junior Jones of Mount Airy; a daughter, Kelsey McCormick King; a son, Devin McCormick King; a siter, Michelle Turney; a nephew, James Turney; two aunts and their spouses, Libby and Clay Edwards and Sandra and the Rev. Butch Holder; an uncle, Dennis Gates; several dear cousins; and his fiancee, Rebecca Davis. In addition to his very special mothers, Mr. McCormick was preceded in death by two uncles, Robert "Rabbit" Gates and George Gates; and his grandfather, George Washington Gates. A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Holy Cross Baptist Church, with the Rev. Butch Holder officiating. There will not be a formal visitation.
