Claude Ardell York

Mr. Claude Ardell "Mouse" York, 74, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Mr. York was born May 23, 1936, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Charlie and Mazie Surratt York. He was a retired farmer and sawmill worker and a member of Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. York is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert Rodriguez of Lexington, KY; a son, Johnny York of the home; three grandchildren, Jonathan Ashburn, Christy Rodriguez, and Tommy Rowland; eleven great- grandchildren, Isaiah, Zackary, Jeremiah, and Kaylie Ashburn, Daniel, Yolanda, Emily, and Jasmine Rodriguez, James, Sammy, and Lauren Roland; three sisters, Lannie Larson of Ohio, and Betty Hull and Joy Jones, both of Lambsburg, VA; and a brother, Frank York of Lambsburg, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. York was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa York; a sister, Annie Y. Edwards; and three brothers, Roy, Alvin, and C.L. York. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 4, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Arwood Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
