Claudia Annette Lyons Bowman

Mrs. Claudia Annette Lyons Bowman, 88, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away Monday, December 19, 2011, at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax, VA. Mrs. Bowman was born April 2, 1923, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Cortez and Maggie Jarrell Lyons. She retired from the Carroll County School System, where she taught for over 30 years. She was a faithful member, choir director, and pianist at Lambsburg Christian Church. She is survived by her husband, Owen Bowman of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Randi and Bruce Wilcox of Mount Airy and Mary Bowman of Fullerton, CA; two grandchildren and their spouses, Annette and Marty Terry of Lambsburg, VA, and Luke and Tammy Golding of Mount Airy; five great-grandchildren, Nicole Terry, Martina Terry, Maggie Terry, Nathan Golding, and Katie Golding; a sister, Betty Lyons of Lambsburg, VA; and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Brady and Eva Lyons and Lauren and Christine Lyons, all of Lambsburg, VA, and Randolph and Helen Lyons of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Casey Owen Terry. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 23, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Lambsburg Christian Church, with Pastor Ron Schwarz and the Rev. Phil Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Lambsburg, VA. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to Lambsburg Christian Church, P.O. Box 98, Lambsburg, VA 24351. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
