Claudia Catherine Childress Woods

Mrs. Claudia Catherine Childress Woods, 93, of 311 East Elm Street, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, June 5, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Woods was born May 20, 1916, in Surry County, to the late Robert Summerfield and Beatrice Bowman Childress. She was a homemaker and a member of Saint Andrew Lutheran Church. She is survived by a brother, Jack Childress of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law, Emma Childress of Mount Airy; a special niece, Bonnie Childress Jones of Mount Airy; a special nephew, William Childress, Jr.; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Woods was preceded in death by her husband, John Knox Woods; a sister, Lillie Fleming; and four brothers, William Clarence Childress, Eugene Childress, George Childress, and Larry Childress. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 8, 2009, at 10:00 AM at Oakdale Cemetery, with the Rev. Dale Cline officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 8:45 until 9:45 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
